It can be both! 1:25 am is after midnight and is in the middle of the night. 1:25 pm is after noon which is the middle of the day.

It can be both there is a point in the day where there is an 1:25 am and a 1:25 pm one in the morning and one isn’t the afternoon. Am is on the morning and pm is in the afternoon.
