Imagine it like a piece of chocolate amongst three people. The one u want to break into to share among the other is the first number.
so the number of chocolate pieces ÷ by number of people
e.g: 6 pieces of chocolate ÷ 3 people
6÷2 = 3
however you can also divide the other way round. by dividing the smaller number first. this means u are diving a small amount to even smaller amounts.
2÷4 = 1/2
