cot=cos/sin
so, it becomes sin^2+cos^2=1
that proves it

Sin^2x ( 1 + cot^2x) = 1
Change cot^2x to cos/sin
Sin^2x(1+cos^2x/sin^2x))=1
Distribute the sin^2x
Sin^2x + cos^2x = 1
1 = 1
