First, each paperback book costs 25 cents and 54 paperbacks were sold which gives :
25 cents × 54 = 1350 cents = 13.5 dollars
Second, each hardcover costs 1.25 dollars and 163 of these were sold which gives :
1.25 dollars × 163 = 203.75 dollars
Finally upon adding the two outcomes we get :
13.5 dollars + 203.75 dollars = 217.25 dollars
