Omg this is an elementary answer
5^2 - 4 is
Five to the power of 2 minus 4
5 times 5 = 5 ^ 2 so it would be
25 - 4

In equations it would be 25-4= 21 BUT THIS IS AN EXPRESSION just remember that.
