Godse and Apte were sentenced to death on 8 November 1949. They were hanged in the Ambala jail  Godse killed Gandhi "Mahatma Gandhi fell to his assassin Nathuram Vinayak Godse’s bullets during an evening prayer ceremony at Birla House in Delhi."
